Tentative Agreement Reached in Local 4 (Grain Millers) Bargaining

May 21, 2025

In their most recent round of negotiations on May 13–14, 2025, GSU Local 4’s bargaining committee reached a tentative agreement with the employer. This comes after careful consideration of feedback provided through a second membership survey.

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is currently being finalized and is expected to be distributed to Local 4 members by May 30. A debrief meeting will be held on June 4 to review and discuss the MOA, and the ballot box will open after the debrief meeting. Voting will continue on June 5.

If the majority votes to accept the MOA, work will begin on preparing the new collective agreement. If the agreement is rejected, negotiations will resume.

Thank you to all members who participated by attending meetings, sharing proposals, and completing surveys. Special thanks to the bargaining committee: Scott Robertson, Ryan McNabb, Brandon Allin, Carter Mackay, supported by GSU staff rep Brian Lark and GSU general secretary Steve Torgerson.

The bargaining survey is live until May 8.

Bargaining stalls over monetary proposals, next bargaining dates are May 13 & 14

April 3, 2025

Your Local 4 bargaining committee met with the company on March 31 and April 1 to continue negotiations. While there was movement on both sides, talks stalled over monetary proposals, and no tentative deal was reached.

The next bargaining dates are set for May 13 and 14, 2025. The company’s latest offer falls short of what members asked for, and your committee remains committed to securing a better deal.

(Below) Not every moment of bargaining is spent directly across the table from the company. While employer representatives reviewed our latest proposal, GSU’s bargaining committee used that time to assess Local 4’s position, analyze company proposals, and plan the next steps.
