Scholarship Committee

GSU’s elected executive members (our president and two vice presidents) serve as the GSU scholarship committee. In the event a committee member, their dependant or spouse applies for a scholarship, that committee member will recuse himself/herself from the committee and a member of GSU’s Joint Executive Council will fill the vacancy on the committee.

The scholarship committee will meet during the month of June to review scholarship applications.

Before the applications are provided to the scholarship committee, each application is assigned a number and all identifying information is removed. Scholarship committee members are the only GSU officers who are provided copies of the essays. Essays are judged on content and intention rather than placing emphasis on the actual formatting and the use of perfect punctuation and grammar.

If you would like to discussion the process used by the GSU scholarship committee for choosing successful scholarship recipients, please contact a GSU officer or the GSU office in Regina.
