Local 8 (Advance/AEA) – Members authorize strike action

The results of the June 26, 2024, membership vote provided a clear mandate, with 100% of voting members authorizing their executive committee to implement strike action.

Earlier in the month, a resounding 95% of members who voted rejected the company’s final offer. Given the events of recent years and the dedication shown by the membership in exceptionally trying times, the membership felt the offer was disgracefully low, having proposed only a 3% wage increase each year of a three-year deal.

The GSU committee remains committed to reaching a new collective agreement and are open to returning to the bargaining table if the company indicates it is prepared to make a reasonable shift in their position.

The current agreement expired on April 27, 2024.

The bargaining committee comprises Doug Murray, Doug Kampman, Doug Pederson, Scott Weisenberger and Steve Torgerson (committee spokesperson/GSU general secretary).
