Conciliator appointed to assist with bargaining impasse

Tuesday Members’ Memo – June 2, 2026

Following an impasse reached between the union bargaining committee and company representatives on April 21, a conciliator has officially been appointed to help break the deadlock.

A Local 9 membership meeting is being scheduled to take place before official dates with the conciliator are secured.

Member solidarity and involvement is crucial as we move into this next phase.

April 21 bargaining session results in bargaining impasse

Tuesday Members’ Memo – April 29, 2026

The Union Bargaining Committee met with company representatives on April 21, and during that session, an impasse was reached. Currently, the Notice of Dispute has not been filed, leaving the door open to continue bargaining should the company change its stance.

The membership’s priorities remain clear: solidifying language for appropriate discipline in the workplace, hours of work, and protecting our members’ time away from work.

The elected bargaining committee is working with the members to gear everyone up for the next phase of this process.

New April and May bargaining dates set, member survey being completed

Tuesday Members’ Memo – March 24, 2026

Renewal bargaining for GSU Local 9 is moving forward with new sessions scheduled for April 21 and May 6. Member participation remains a priority as the bargaining committee prepares to return to the table; as part of this process, members have been asked to complete a bargaining survey currently available on the shop floor.

These upcoming dates follow the initial round of bargaining held March 3–5. Despite a challenging start and significant adversity during those first sessions, the union committee remains hopeful for a productive outcome.

Bargaining sessions with the employer that were originally scheduled for Feb. 3 and 6 were postponed to March 3, 4 and 5 due to employer short-staffing and production demands.
