Local 4 (Grain Millers) members vote, say no to Memorandum of Agreement
Tuesday MEMBERS’ MEMO – June 17, 2025
A vote on the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was held on June 4 and 5. Members voted to reject the terms of the settlement, meaning a new collective agreement will not be finalized. With the MOA rejected, the union bargaining committee has reached out to company representatives to request that negotiations resume.
The GSU Local 4 bargaining committee comprises Brandon Allin, Ryan McNabb, Carter Mackay, and Scott Robertson, assisted by GSU staff representative Brian Lark and general secretary Steve Torgerson (bargaining spokesperson).
Tentative Agreement Reached in Local 4 (Grain Millers) Bargaining
May 15, 2025
In their most recent round of negotiations on May 13–14, 2025, GSU Local 4’s bargaining committee reached a tentative agreement with the employer. This comes after careful consideration of feedback provided through a second membership survey.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is currently being finalized and is expected to be distributed to Local 4 members by May 30. A debrief meeting will be held on June 4 to review and discuss the MOA, and the ballot box will open immediately following the debrief meeting. Voting will continue on June 5.
If the majority votes to accept the MOA, work will begin on preparing the new collective agreement. If the agreement is rejected, negotiations will resume.
Thank you to all members who participated by attending meetings, sharing proposals, and completing surveys. Special thanks to the bargaining committee: Scott Robertson, Ryan McNabb, Brandon Allin, Carter Mackay, supported by GSU staff rep Brian Lark and GSU general secretary Steve Torgerson.
