From October 21 to 23, our GSU delegation joined labour activists from across the province in Regina for the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL) Convention.

Representing over 100,000 members across 26 unions and 500 locals, the event set collective priorities for working people throughout Saskatchewan.

The convention marked a leadership transition, with UFCW 1400 member Marilynne MacFarlane acclaimed as the SFL’s tenth President, joined by Darcy Pederson of ATU as the newly elected Secretary-Treasurer.

Among the featured speakers was television writer, comedian, and Writers Guild of America (WGA) West board member Adam Conover. Drawing from recent contract battles, Conover addressed the growing impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce and emphasized the need for unions to actively negotiate AI protections across all sectors.

GSU looks forward to working alongside the new leadership to advance workers’ rights across the province.
